Caliber I've already got ... let me know.
The really large research items require more than you can easily add in research points. So open the console and type in finish_research and hit enter.
Stellaris console commands like instant build and such can affect the AI. This has been like that since the launch. Why Paradox decided on that, who knows. From what I remember, finish_research, research all, instant movement, instant colony. and instant build are gonna affect the AI.
You might try turning AI off during this.

The console command for the research is good to know.
I haven't used the console yet, I had read in this thread that the trainer options were different than the console commands, in that they didn't affect the AI when it came to instant build etc in the trainer.
I'll start a new game today and use the 'AI off' trainer option while i build and research so i can find an alien empire and see if it too is more powerful than I, considering very little time had passed in the game before i was a superpower, they should have been still very primitive. 🤔
So, I'm having some trouble with the trainer. While every other option seems to work just fine, I can't get the Research option to work. I've made sure to do all the usual things (turn off A/V, run as admin, make sure I have the correct version, etc) and I've followed the directions to the letter, but still nothing.
I'm pausing the game, going into research tab, selecting things to be researched, turn on Fast Research option, then unpausing the game. Nothing. Research just tends to progress as normal.
Note that I DO have research costs set at x5. Not sure if that would effect the trainer option.
Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?
yeah , you aren't doing it right
best,
Cal
