    Hi,

I have a bit of an issue 🤔. This trainer will NOT start up if Windows 7 process, dwm.exe (Desktop Window Manager) is running. If I start the trainer as soon as I open Windows, I am good, it will start. But if I want to run the trainer any time after the first 10 seconds of startup, I have to open Task Manager and "kill" dwm.exe. It took some time to find out what was crashing the Dark Souls 3 trainer, but I was 98% certain it was a process of some kind. I just had to find the right one.

I have tried all the recommended steps, turning off my antivirus (malwarebytes) and running as administrator. The only things that work are a.) running trainer before dwm.exe has a chance to start up, or b.) "killing dwm.exe through task manager.

Any help and advice would be appreciated .

    Thanks!

Just leaving a note, the 'no ill effects' option does not prevent you being cursed.
I still die if I get cursed in the game

Yeah, it doesn't seem to actually prevent ANY of the ill effects, it just keeps the buildup meter from being shown. You still suffer blood loss, poison, toxic, frostbite, whatever...you just don't see the buildup happening until the effect hits. For most of the effects that doesn't really bother you too much if you've got Infinite Health and/or Stamina turned on, but for Curse, this option is actually worse than useless because you don't have any idea how close you are to being insta-killed.

Taurusplopp requested I post the attached save file for Caliber to try to fix the No Ill Effects problem. My apologies if I'm misinterpreting anything being asked for.

    1. Save file location on the original hard drive is in the AppData folder on Windows 7. I attempted to type the path in here but your firewall blocked it, apparently thinking it was a hack attempt.

I zipped the entire DarkSoulsIII subfolder from that path, basically following the instructions I've seen online for backing up DSIII save files. No guarantees it'll work however, as some online reports are claiming the game has become so paranoid it claims copied save files are recognized as Invalid or Corrupted save data. Apparently some people are using copied save files to make PVP builds.

    2. Character location in the game is standing in front of the poison swamp in Farron Keep.

    3. No mods of any type are installed. Both DLC installments, Ashes Of Ariandel and The Ringed City, are installed. The title screen lists the App version as 1.14 and the Regulation version as 1.35

    4. The only trainer option that isn't working properly is the No Ill Effects. Instructions on how to reproduce the problem using the attached save file:

    a. Activate the trainer, start up DS3, load the character. There's only one in the save file. Hopefully DS3 allows it to work.

    b. Don't activate any trainer options. Walk into the poison swamp. You'll see the purple Poison meter start to build up. Let it fill up. Takes about 15 seconds, you'll get an onscreen message stating you've been POISONED and the character will start to lose health.

    c. Turn around and walk back onto the shore so you're out of the poison. Take one of the Purple Moss Clumps the character currently has equipped to cure the poison or, if you prefer, just run into the nearby building and rest at the Bonfire right around the corner.

    d. Activate the No Ill Effects option on the trainer...NumPad 9.

    e. Step back into the poison swamp. You won't see the purple Poison meter this time, but wait about 15 seconds and you'll get the POISONED message again, and your health will start to tick down.

This is the issue that occurs with all of the ill effects...Poison, Toxic, Frostbite, Bleed, etc. With the No Ill Effects option on, the buildup meter does not appear but when it would normally fill up, the ill effect does indeed hit and you suffer the consequences.

Again, this is not really a problem for most of the effects as the Infinite Health trainer option will prevent you from losing health from them. The exception is Curse which unfortunately I do not have a save file positioned near a source of - when the Curse meter fills up completely, your character dies instantly. That one's really the problem.

Since the option works like it always did since the beginning of the game, and now the options appear to be worse than not having at all, they will be removed in the next update of the trainer.

    best,

    Help? 🙁

I downloaded and ran the trainer on Windows 7 Ult x64 with Windows Defender + Windows Firewall enabled (no exclusions) with admin rights just fine.

Something on your side is blocking the trainer and the creation of its tmp file in this location here -> C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\Cheathappens\.

Or you have some software installed for online banking, one-click tools, backup solution or such that are running in the background.

Good for health, bad for education.
