What else could I check or do to get the new trainer to work for me?
What OS are you on? Where did you buy the game? Any way to provide your game .exe and a savegame so we can check it?
game .exe will probably be useless as this game patches every single day, and the code being searched for is created with scripts at run time and in random memory and only when you do specific things.
trainer tested still working 11:54am TODAY even though the game, as usual, patched again today.

I tried downloading the trainer again and made sure no folder, process or file involved is scanned by my AV.
I get an "Activated" on the main menu, but NOW with the trainer redownloaded, I don't even get any "Please wait... failed" anymore when I try to capure an enemy card in a fight. I get NO acoustic messages from the trainer at all. ;-(
I am lost, desperate. I want this freaking thing to work again, and since I had no problems with a necessary trainer update in summer after a major game update, I simply have no clue why I have such prioblems this time.
Please anyone, help me solve this.

Major thing to not forget: Empty/clean your browser(s) cache before starting your trainer each and every time
I used CClean to clear the browser cach even though I don't use any "browser" like Firefox or IE for running the trainer and/or GoW on Steam... ?!
I downloaded the trainer again, made sure it runs as Admin for all users on my PC (I am the only one using the PC, logging on as admin everytime but well ...) and now I get an "Activated" on the main GoW window (kingdoms map) and when I enter a challenge or PvP or any other fight, I don't get any audible message from the trainer at all AND after several tries, GoW now crashes every time I try to capture an enemy card. What is WRONG with my system? ;´-(((((
I did an integrity scan on Steam, current GoW content-BuildID is 1540768.

It isn't you that uses your browser, but the game and the trainer!
CCleaner is good, but cleaning your cache from your browser is necessary.
Cheating in PvP is not allowed, you need to wake-up and smell the roses, I'm sure you would not like if someone cheated on you while you're not.
If you cheated on PvP, the developer(s) of Gems of War might already banned you silently.
In any cases, by following my suggestion you should be able to play with the trainer, in single-player mode, only.
