Turok Discussion
Trainer Tools and Resources
this old game is retired
best,
Cal
It's a old game and it's using the original assets but this re-release is on a entirely different engine bringing support for things such as 60 frames-per-second, resolutions up to "4K" (3840x2160) and various other tweaks, no major graphical changes though water has reflections and there's a few shaders such as light shafts and the fog can be reduced somewhat.
As I understood it the author of this had to reverse engineer the original game to create this and Turok 2 will follow sometime early next year, a level editor is also being discussed with support via the Steam Workshop.
Not really sure how many Turok games they intend to "port" though as I understood it the first two are being made and there's talks of the other games receiving the same treatment even including the Turok 2008 game.
(This first re-release of the original is basically just porting the game assets and such to a new engine but the sequels could have additional work done on them.)

The new remaster is so VASTLY improved I barely even consider these the same game.
The 1997 release is unplayable today imo. It's mouse support is completely broken and can't run at a 100% solid framerate on ANY machine.
Plus with mods it looks very different too.
The levels also got some changes, for the better imo.
And yea there are built in cheats, but trainers are easier to toggle mid game and id like to see some of the stuff the older one got, which arent built in like super speed.
