Just a call out to any programmers that can solve the idiotic HARDWIRED "E" key!
I'm leftie so it's even worse, as some Num Pad functions are also hardwired! I use the numpad-off equivalents, but still - the E key is HALFWAY between either hand!
So if you remap a keyboard, or are left-handed, do you know of a workaround?
I've posted an .ahk file text on nexus, but it is poor and only remaps the numpad and a few other things.

But- really - how much of an elitist moron do you have to be to hardwire E in the 21st century?
Drives me crazy. I have 1000's of hours in Fallout going back years, and it's barely playable now, no emersion, no game flow; every 10 sec I have to stop playing, find the E key to pick up even a stupid tin can, and start playing again - until the next item is there. arg.

I'm left-handed but I use the mouse with my right hand and keyboard with left on WASD and E, why don't you try that

Odd. Was able to rebind my keys from E to Enter and use ARROW keys.

Yes, but you may need to turn off other movement keys for that to work. Also E still is hardwired into the construction menus.
Also doing the E=Rt Arrow thing turned OFF the ability to scroll LEFT in the workshop menus...
Also other hardwired keys.

It's just very insulting for the devs to take away a common property of most all games and all good games, the ability to completely remap the keyboard - a keypress is a keypress - why hardwire?

I just can't get into the game when the interface gets in the way repeatedly.

Yes, I've written an autohotkey script to remap some keys.
Problem is I ALWAYS forget to Unload the Autohotkey program!
Also it doesn't solve the sub-menu hardwired E, or the hardwired E that allows you to pick up items in containers, and by remapping, somehow my left arrow key is gone and so in construction menus I cannot EVER go left, which is awful, as the construction menus, unlike all the others, REMEMBERS where you were! That means that if I've scrolled down into misc, and gone one too far right, I cannot ever go back left in that session! Have to leave the area to get a reset.
It's just a lot of unnecessary, unthoughtful, lazy programming. It's probably just easier to leave it half-baked, and was probably done for consoles first and the PC port was a badly done after-thought.

While I'm ranting, the combat system is just stupid. I shot over 1,000 5mm rounds at a group of super mutants and didn't kill all of them; reset, one frag and they're all in pieces - just plain stupid.
AI is totally bonkers! You can walk right up to a bad guy facing you and blast them point blank, OR they spot you from 3 floors up in the opposite corner, sneak up on you and get the first attack, OR they stop fighting in the middle of an attack and suddenly go peaceful; etc., etc.
The story is very thin. There's no "YOU DID IT" messages, etc.
The LOAD TIMES!
I can fast travel and go make a meal while it loads!
Just a terrible game that I am forced to play to get my $60 of value back!
