Thanks for the response! I did note in my initial post that I was indeed in "offline" play. The trainer crashed the game whether I was online or offline. Other people in this board have noted the same behavior. Anyhow, the game has now been updated and the offline version is 52.0. Possibly this issue can be fixed with the new version of the trainer for the updated game.
I'm not sure if you can receive future updates for Black Ops III after you have been TAC or VAC banned but since I was not playing the game with the current trainer so I'm safe not to be banned by either of the two anti-cheat systems.

as expected, I wasted 45 minutes of my life downloading 50 GB game, reinstalling it, turning off internet, putting steam in offline mode, running campaign and:
all the options work like they always did
please dont ask for updates to the trainer until you have tested the trainer.
NO, the trainer does not work ONLINE against HUMANS.
DO NOT USE THE TRAINER WHILE INTERNET IS ON
sigh
best,
Cal
Are you sure about that, Caliber? Maybe try updating the game to version 52.0 without the trainer then you'll know what problems we may be facing.
Also I think I found some kind of patch note on Steam's discussion board about this game but I don't know whether the EXE file is affected by the recent patch or not, just give it a read. However if you still believe that this recent patch does not affect the EXE file which the trainer relies on then I'll have nothing more to say, but if we are right then we'll give the update notification system a retry.

hello fellow cheaters :P the trainer work fine with all offline content zombies aswell.
but if you do not want to get a vac ban do not use it. (got one yesterday) this is what i did and still got a vac ban
1. i went in offline mode (steam)
2. i deactivated my internet card
3. i unplugged my internet cable to be sure. lol
....
when i wanted to go back online i did as follows
1. i deleted the trainer from everywhere
2. i verifyed integrity of game cache
3. i even deleted the game and reinstalled it
still activision gave me a vac ban.
and remember if you do get a vac ban. do not bother call activision (they wont help you)
do not even bother talk to steam about it (they wont help you. and tell you to contact activision)
so just be careful guys 🙂
Could be Treyarch banning you with their TAC system, Steam's VAC bans you from playing internet multiplayer while TAC may ban you from playing the entire game. I think the Cheat Happens team already tried their best to make the current trainer bypass the TAC, but when Treyarch updates the game to block trainer cheats and ban people using them, there's nothing they can do.
Also one more thing, though Black Ops III has a offline mode, it may not be Activision and Treyarch's objective for us to use the offline mode to just play solo with trainers or cheats but as a sort of "training mode" for us to be familiarized with playing multiplayer and the campaign in co-op mode.
