Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Message Board  

I'm not at that mission yet Jethro but I'm getting close. I just did White Mamba and Close Contact is next.

I guess my bond factor is at least 100 with Quiet based on that Bonding chart. She goes thru each and every one of those moves when we're on the Chopper.

It's starting to appear they're running out of good mission ideas though. I just looked at this next mission and a few of the objectives include:

Extract: 2 Jeeps...4 Nubian Goats...one Martial Eagle...and an African Peach. Plus 3-4 other things.

Content seems a tad thin but I'm trying to get 'S' ranks and all objectives completed so I'll stay the course.

My other complaint is I wish they'd not give us missions we dont yet have the proper equipment for. Like having to Fulton extract 20 kids in White Mamba several missions before I even get the Wormhole Fulton. Yes, I could bring a truck and toss 'em all in there, but that's no fun.

I have been in the mood to start the game over since I've learned so much and want to do things a lot better.

So I deleted my saved and started all over nice and clean.

I did the first mission nice and stealthy, clean, no killing... extracted out on the heli and when I got there what do I see?

I'm still crazy maxed out evil and I still can't undo it. I can only assume this is because of the connection to the online component. I guess I'll try it one more time and just keep the game forced offline because this is no good.

EDIT: I put Steam in offline mode to make sure this game stays offline, used the trainer to reset the evil, went through the process, and still no good.

I'm going to restart this game one more time from offline from the get-go... that means no ground zeros save for me, too bad... and take one last shot otherwise it beats me.

Hope that works for yah. You're deleting the Save game and restarting a new game? You would sure think that would work. Beyond that the only other thing would be to reinstall and I'm sure you dont wanna do that if you can help it.

I thought I was in the clear.

This is the most dumbfounding thing I think I have ever seen in videogaming, at least recent memory.

Get this: I kept Steam in offline mode to do everything. Long/short there are two seperate locations for Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes saves in Steam and I found both and deleted all of them.

I started fresh with the Ground Zeroes saves from here. Did everything to the letter... looks great, ran great...clean Snake... got past mission 1... awesome everything, home free...

The second I went to quit to the Title screen to get ready to shut the game down...BAM! Snake transforms back into demon Snake before my very eyes.

I give up. I don't get this at all. All this just because I built one damned nuke for that worthless FOB online thing? I destroyed it!

Mind you: The game was NEVER online the entire time for all of this. Steam itself was offline.


Morale of story: Whatever you all do... PLEASE, don't build a damned nuke in the game. It isn't worth it.

@Q-Bz How much Heroism do you have currently?

Also, I just activated CH's newest trainer. I then got a little bloodied up and did the F-4 Evil option exactly as it says in the text file and it cleared me up.

After a shower Snake looks like he did the day I started. I also tested GMP and Heroism and both also worked perfectly.

So have you tried the trainer's Evil clearing since Caliber updated yesterday? Some people say Heroism points can effect Evil. One guy said he has over a million Heroism.

The Evil option has mostly worked for me and I have 254,000 Heroism.

Some other people said they farmed the kids in the White Mamba mission and that helped get rid of it. Some had the Wormhole Fulton. Some loaded the kids in a truck and some put them on the chopper.

Anywhich, I hope I didn't jinx it (Ack!) but the new trainer from yesterday worked for me.

I did a full uninstall and reinstall of the game.

I haven't seen that heroism setting work for probably 2-3 trainers now and I've stayed current. I had downloaded the new one yesterday but went ahead and deleted it and downloaded it again just now.

I am going to start the game over, be normal, and the hell with it. It either works or it doesn't. I'll just assume something got corrupted somewhere in that handshake because the Phantom Pain account and the Steam account are married to each other regardless of whether it's connected online or not.

When I get there I will farm the Mamba mission properly.

I did see some people mention in another thread that they hadn't been able to affect heroism setting for a while so I know it isn't just me. Caliber understandably stated that this game is testing his patience. Tell me about it! LOL!

I feel your pain bro, I know what that's like. I had one doing that to me 3-4 years ago and like you, I tried everything. It eventually worked but I never found out what was causing the problem and never figured out why it started working either.

So what was your Heroism number before you uninstalled? You might also try changing the number it adds on the trainer option, see if it kick starts it.

I dunno man. I always run the trainer and game As Admin and I let Steam verify the game cache. It's adding everything I use each and every time I press the option. Hopefully your reinstall shook things up. Got my fingers crossed, lemme know how it goes for ya.
