I was looking to use the above mentioned program to force V-Sync on The Witcher 1 since the game lacks the settings and the drivers don't seem to be working for this end. While it was downloading the application my antivirus kept detecting things, I cancelled the download and removed what files I could find of this 'D3DO' but now my browser keeps trying to open questionable webpages as seen here
how do I stop this? Just as I am finished typing this yet another popped up.
EDIT: Lock/Delete this thread, Avast has a 'Browser Add On Cleanup' feature and there were 2 addons with only numbers and letters as their name which were most likely the culprit as the issue seems to be gone now. What I get for trying to avoid installing Afterburner

Check your browsers registry, I guarantee your home page, and 404 page have been changed to something else that redirects to some infected page.
So I would start into safe mode, and uninstall the browser.
And then totally delete any folders associated with the browser, including temp internet files.
Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA
