CUTIEPIEheydudetyler posted on Aug 01, 2026 11:45:27 AMSteam install with all the DLC, aurora is on my C drive in the normal steamapps folder like every other game, and aurora is excluded from windows defender and allowed in windows firewall. -
CUTIEPIEheydudetyler posted on Aug 01, 2026 11:47:55 AMIf i dont use the aurora the game loads and plays no issues, but as soon as i use the trainer and go to continue or load in the game it crashes on the little loading cutscene.

CUTIEPIEheydudetyler posted on Aug 01, 2026 1:03:39 PMI figured it out, if you are running the game in DirectX12 it crashes consistently, in the cd project red launcher under the gear cog change the game to launch in DX11 and it made all my issues go away.

ELITEmjsmit23 posted on Aug 03, 2026 1:20:01 AMi have noted a series of crashes with the witcher 3 complete edition. After going through the board post i have confirmed that if you disable the automatic overlay it stops the crashes. Just for the next person that discovers this.

I have dsiabled the automatic injection for the overlay and have done about everything from the forums. The trainer will work for long spells of time, and then at other times it will crash the game every time it activates. That said im uncertain if the game is truly the same between the complete edition and the older release versions. Just figured I would share what I have. If you want more details ill do my best to provide them, thank you. -

We are going to need a lot more info since most of the testing team that has this game can't replicate the crash

ELITEmjsmit23 posted on Aug 05, 2026 2:34:15 PMHonestly for me the crashes are coming so randomly or so consistently i dont know what is or isnt at fault. yesterday i switched to the directt x 11 version and it worked farily well for a time. logged back in now and its crashing again. im not sure what is causing it, or what to provide details wise because there isnt one consistent issue . im going to get a notepad out and see if i cant narrow down the why of it, but as of now im playing the witcher 3 complete edition on steam, and its crashing fon activation of the trainer. ive disabled the overlay injection, and im running it on directx 11.
