steamdb says the game was updated in june of 2024. I've tested the trainer multiple times since then and it works fine

Disable the overlay in trainer settings and try.
We haven't been able to replicate the crashes at all.
Also make sure you Aurora is on the latest update, current v3.0.26.0

Aurora is updated to latest version, everything is turned off, overlay, save game, etc. I have to fight it and relaunch the game multiple times and eventually it will load and work.

Is Aurora on a disk, and not in documents, downloads or desktop?
