I was telling Linesma I once had a problem with a Save Game for a Dead Space 3 game. It was preventing me from continuing from where I was last.

So I sent them an email about it. They finally got back to me .... 6½ weeks later.

Grrrreat service. I dunno who cares less about the public, them or Blizzard.

Truthfully from a company stand point I see no issue region locking their gear. But when it comes to a consumer side its annoying as hell. As we want to be able to go to anywhere and purchase our goods at the lowest price we want. Or get the stuff that our governments banned from us.

On the note of account security well you should be keeping watch on every game account you have even bank accounts connected to them. Oh you can play the blame game. But I can tell you everything is not 100% secure!

As to customer service. I have had plenty of good customer service from Origin and only one time from Blizzard. Steam... Generic non helpfull at all.

So back to the regon locking. It was going to happen at some point. Not much can be done now. You could try to boycott but users that dont have an issue will keep buying and that what the companies will see. Not those going why cant I buy it cheap! Like those in Russia! Blah Blah Blah.

Well spoken on the security side. This one of the reasons why I do NOT have a card on file with either company. If I want to make a purchase, I have to enter in the card information.

Buddy of mine just gave Origin another spin, after not launching it after over a year. He had a craving for Sims, and gave in. When he couldn't log in, he found out his account had been locked. Seems that someone had gained access to his account and EA billing info. From Italy. They were attempting to charge over $800 USD worth of games and micro-transactions to his account, after having just successfully charged over $500 USD. EA just locked his account once his entire bank account was out of money. They didn't seem to find it in their time to attempt to contact him or his bank, and didn't find it odd that even thought all his info listed him as living in the US, he was account was trying to purchase everything from Italy.

They did, out of the kindness of their hearts, offer to set him up a fresh account devoid of any software whatsoever. Keep in mind, the hackers didn't get his billing info from him. They managed to pick the info from EA's database.

He cheerfully told them they could go copulate furiously with themselves. I do believe he's in the process of finding a lawyer now.

All due respect it's up to the bank to do that, not EA.

And any respectable bank would have noticed the higher spending from the same vendor, and would have held the card from use and contacted your friend.

Also he could have gotten the purchases refunded, EA would have helped with that.

I dunno but your story seems fishy, EA or any digital provider would have gladly set up a new account and give you the games back that you legally owned and shifted your online storage to that account also.

So yeah... are you exaggerating a bit? Or did your friend tell a porky or exaggerated?

Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA

You do put a point over there DAB about them setting up a new account with what they legitly had. I would doubt any company would blanket ban the proper user who did not do the naughty deed.

I would maybe probably hit a court case maybe. Depending on how much the account is worth. But thats just me. Never looked into that side. But I would certainly be going to a lawyer if Steam went oh your not getting into your account because some one hacked in and did such n such from the other side of the world. So say bye bye to what would amass up to about £9000 averaging abotu £30 a game. Note thats just the game not all the extra stuff you buy. Even the trading cards. That includes origin to might not be much in there but it certainly enough to get me going OI.

So I have to doubt that to come to think of it.
