Is it just me, or does the trainer actually make sharks impervious to attacks, if you make yourself invulnerable too?

There is no way it works like that but other features may have an impact on sharks for example unlimited resources.

So you suggest I drop the unlimited resources function while hunting sharks (or attempting too)?

Yes because this option nukes the game function which destroys objects due to the way resources are handled there was no other way to get unlimited resources.

However the function that destroys object is also used by a lot of other things as you can imagine. So it is not recommended to have the resource function active all the time especially the time when you are NOT crafting.
