There is no real solution to a DDoS. Sure you can mitigate it to the best of your abilities and have the most badass CDN networks but enough resources can bring down lots of networks. DDoS attacks have been successful against Battle.net recently and even Microsoft who has an entire line of enterprise networking and servers to power their video game divisions and they too have fallen to DDoS.

They will continue to happen and many networks will continue to fail as a result.
