Far Cry 4 Message Board  

Hey all, I was running into this after the lastest update did lot of searching around tried the steps they suggested, re-installed into different directories but was not solved...

What was happening was the game was taking FOREVER to load suddenly when it wasn't before, and i'd have to alt-tab in and out of the game to get it to show the next loading screen/main menu, and NPCs and events not triggering in the game with out having to alt tab out, I FINALLY found the culprit (atleast for me) is the Xbox controller, I unplugged that restarted Uplay(one of the most horrible abominations Ubisoft has made btw) and it no longer had the controller recognize in Uplay, started the game, and voila loading screens are now faster than ever like they were before and NPC's are loading up just fine.

The moment I plug in the controller doesn't matter at menu, in-game, etc. it goes back to no longer triggering scripted events, cutescenes, etc with out having to alt-tab out. It's a start and atleast the culprit is found as to why(least for me and maybe a few others) will have to wait until ubisoft makes a patch to fix this, or unless someone can find out what to do to be able to play with a controller again with out those issues. I've sent a ticket to Ubisoft for maybe a fix... we'll see..in the mean time i'm having to play with KB&M... anyhow hope this helps someone who's been struggling as much as I have with this.

sounds like ubi really dropped the ball on the pc version.. if it wasnt for me being so darn lazy i would unplug the joypad...

Yeah, i'm having to learn the KB&M quarter the way through the game lol.. wish they'd just leave the game alone

Check you hard drive as I had the same issue changed drives and the issue stopped,found that other drive was under load from other programs. FC4 put a lot of strain on its resources and needs a drive that's in optimum condition.

Nah, HDD is unrelated to the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though, good lookin' out
