What are research points for? I use staff to research or pay money for staff, but not sure where the points come into play.
I am not entirely sure, either. Like you, I use either the staff I bribe to join my organization or spend cash to hire outsourced staff.
That's actually pretty easy to do:
1. Go to "C:\Users\(YOURUSERNAME)\AppData\Local\SatelliteReign\users\(YOURPROFILENAME)
2. Open "srbSave2.xml" (or whichever save you want) with an XML editor and look for "m_SkillManager", then click on "m_Agents".
3. Look for "m_AvailableSkillPoints" and change that number to whatever you wish. The highest I have tested it with is 30.

Only edit the first four "AgentData" entries. I edited the fifth one and I started getting crashes on saved game loads.
Obviously, make a backup of your save game BEFORE you do any editing.
