you can get to some degree a duel class after u reach skyhold in the sense you get a specialization strictly speaking its only an extension of your original class for e.g if ur a mage u can become a necromancer

Being a mage is an awesome class, even better when you are an evil tempered mage who sides with the rebel mages.

It becomes very very very interesting further on.

I trust your opinion on this one, just bought the game and about to start.

    Console activation:
1: Make a shortcut to the “dai.exe” file on your desktop (normally found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age Inquisition\bin_ship folder).
2: Right-click the folder and go to Properties. In the “target” field write this: -enabledeveloperconsole. Here is an example of how it should look: “C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age 2\bin_ship\DragonAgeInquisition.exe”
    -enabledeveloperconsole.
3: Once in game, activate the Cheat Console box by pressing the tilde key (~) on your keyboard.
4: Take note that after entering a cheat below, you won’t be given a notification that anything has changed and you won’t see the cheat console when you are typing. (Pressing enter while typing will close the console.)

    Class modification cheats:
runscript chargen mage — Changes player to a L2 mage.
runscript chargen rogue — Changes player to a L2 rogue.
runscript chargen warrior — Changes player to a L2 warrior.

Now why would you say that? I registered just to make this comment. Just to tell you that these are utter falsehoods, so you don't waste your time on them. These worked in previous games, but there is no "runscript" command in DAI. Please stop spreading these, as these are simply not valid for Inquisition and you just irritate people looking for legit information, for no good reason. Please stop it.

For everyone else: your best bet right now is manually editing a save file. Haven't figured out where these values are located throughout the saves (it's quite possible there is more than one location), but 0x31 seems to be warrior, 0x32 and 0x33, seems to mean rogue and mage respectively. Either you figure it out and share it, or wait for a save editor with that functionality built in. Good luck and/or patience.

I can't imagine changing to or from a mage will end well, chunks of plot and dialogue are about whether or not your a mage... It's not like DAO where you could be a rogue and give yourself every spell you want and laugh...

I love the mage - except the Knight Enchanter. That is absolutely boring to play and to watch (animations).

I loved Archers in previous DA games, but not in this one - deleted my Tempest Archer because it was as dull as ditchwater (maybe an Assassin Archer could be fun). But Double Dagger Tempest is damn awesome. Warrior is next up, but I'm not sure what kind. I usually hate S&B, but this game is throwing my usual likes for a loop.

As others have said, no respec, and not likely to get modded due to the lack of tools and the possibility of breaking other things. Try out by playing your companions with different builds/specialisations.

And yes, you can play a mage as a Dalish elf - as anything except a dwarf, in fact. All races can play any class and specialisation ... except no dwarven mages.

I have played mage and archer rogue in both previous games but my warrior in this one is fun :3

i went pretty tanky though, a mix of sword and shield and vanguard along with templar specialization, as i just take all the punishment i got Sera, Dorian and Solas raining hell on the enemies while i beat them down

The way Inquisition is designed, story-wise, changing classes mid-game would probably break a few things and would really jack-up the story a bit. It's not that big of a hassle to drag a rogue along or to hit a camp and swap out a character for a rogue to pick locks for you while you roam around.
