Well, it started out looking like it could be an actuall fun event to take part in, and now less than 24 hours after it started, Valve had to pull the plug because people were already cheating

personally, i had 60 sets saved up, and now the joy of it feels more or less ruined, even if they do get it up and running again

Anyway, any particular titles people got your eyes on for this sale?, sofar, i only have a absurd minor hope of seeing the first CoD Modern warfare getting a good discount (foolish i know )

Unfortunately you will always get those people who will abuse the system.

I know this will force the price of cards up more, after when people mass buy cheap Team Fortress 2 cards and then make gems from them lol

    EDIT:

    Found out why

They might have fixed the gem bug, but the amount that people are bidding are still complete and utter fail

CS:GO is currently at 83k gems, which if you calculate with the market price it had before they were made untradeable, is around 20 euro.....all the while, i can simply open steam, and buy it, for oh say, 13 euro

and in other news, a person is currently bidding 230k gems, for a profile background, that is only valid till Jan. 16th, after which it gets deleted, again, if we take the market value of gems, that's around 60 euro....for a 1 month profile background.....my faith in humanity has this day taken a great hit

personally, i managed to scrounge up around 20k gems, from alot of backgrounds that i don't care for, and its barely enought to compete for even the never heard of stuff in this whole auction

the only winner in all this, is valve, who struck jackpot with people buying stuff to get gems, and fooling people into believing they could actually get stuff for cheap

    edit---

Gems are tradeable again, at 0,55ish euro average per 1000, which makes this farce even funnier

Remember those backgrounds from the colour teams?

They were selling for cheap and each would be 100 gems. So people bought them in bulk.

But the biggest gem makers is the TF2 and DOTA items, some of those very rare epic quality ones have a huge gem pay out.

So essentially if you don't play either of them, don't even bother attempting to bid.

TF2 emotes/backgrounds are 80-100 gems each, wouldn't call that huge, what's the range for Dota items?

also, that background, is now on a 1 million gem bid , im sorry, but that's a stupid amount to be spending on a 1 month valid item

Some of the weapon skins and hats are quite pricey.
