You forgot to mention that the non-Steam version of this trainer WILL NOT WORK on modern versions of Windows.

It doesn't matter if you try to use the trainer offline only; what version of IE you have; your URLMON, etc. If you are running Windows 10, the non-Steam version of this trainer *will* crash upon trying to authenticate.

Cheathappens only updated the trainers at the top of the list if they were released before July 2012 to be compatible with modern systems. This Link explains how you might be able to get Windows 7 to allow the trainer to work (Windows 8 MIGHT work if you delete IE first) but this trainer will not function on Windows 10 unless it is updated by Cheathappens, which PWizard has made clear that they have no intention to do.

Well, if it's not going to be updated, they should change the status off of being active. I honestly feel like I wasted my money on a membership here, when I rarely use or want a trainer, but when I do, I am met with something that doesn't work that I always have to waste more of my time on trying to get to work, and half of the time end up not being able to use.

I am met with the same problem, using a GOG version of the game, since I bought it before the Steam version was out, and am just now giving a playthrough another shot. The only thing I wanted was gold in the game, to try and save myself time from repeatedly playing dice only to find myself wasting it trying to get a non-functioning trainer to work instead.

I'd ask that it gets updated, but, I'm sure by the time that it does, I'll have moved on from this game. I think I look for a trainer on here about once, maybe twice a year.

Thumbs down on this one.

Hashimashadoo, This not a compatibility issue. You will note that the Steam version runs just fine. Both the non-Steam and Steam versions use the same cheat engine. The only difference is data address(ing) table(s) as Steam versions of games run a little more code for the Steam functions, which means the memory addresses and possibly, access methods are different than the non-steam versions. This why CH releases a STEAM and a non-STEAM version. If one of the two versions of the trainer will run, then both will run, unless one is corrupted. I do believe that is the case here. One of the replies indicated that user had a functioning 1.5 enhanced that worked fine until it downloaded again, at which point it stopped working.

This is NOT a Windows 10 compatibility issue. It IS a CORRUPT file issue. I wish I could find a copy to download, that someone downloaded before it corrupted, then subsequently made available for download.

CH uses a system that takes the coretrainer for the game, inserts the users specifics into an embedded data table for the authentication process, compiles it, then makes the just compiled trainer temporarily available for download. Thus, the trainer is customized for the user. With that said, the questions are: Where is the corruption? When (or "Will" ) CH fix it?

SoulSojourner, If all you want to do is edit your gold amount, try giving a program called ARTMONEY a try. It is a rather powerful game editor that lets you search for values in the game, then edit those values, as well as some other useful features. But be aware: Artmoney NEITHER replaces NOR functions like a trainer, but sometimes, it is more useful than a trainer, depending on the circumstances. Artmoney comes in 2 versions: Freeware and Premium.

I know a good and free premium alternative to ArtMoney: CoSMOS.

You are incorrect and please do not pretend to know how our trainers function, including the customization process. The retail and steam versions of this trainer could be completely different just like today's games released on the Windows Store. These are 100% different than the Steam or Origin versions and we basically have to make two different versions of the trainer from scratch.

www.cheathappens.com/show_board2.asp?headID=117004&titleID=13673

This method would allow the retail trainer to work on Windows 7. This is not a corrupt file issue, this is an issue of Microsoft updating a specific memory function within their core IE browser starting at version 9 on Windows 7 and then automatically incorporated in Windows 8 and above. This function had been used in Windows for over 10 years and our trainers relied on it. Why it was changed we do not know, but we had to go back and update the latest version of thousands of our trainers to fix this compatibility issue. The retail version of this trainer is clearly marked as Windows 7 and below under Compatibility. This was likely due to the fact that when we update a trainer we do not keep the previous trainer's code. It could have also been that we no longer had the retail boxed version of the game in our possession when Microsoft made this change. So, we updated the Steam version which was the latest version we had. I will check with our programmer to see if it's possible to make the retail version compatible and if so it will be, but if not then I'm sorry. This game is $9.99 on Steam. If you are that adamant about playing this 9 year old game with the trainer then I'm quite sure that it wouldn't break the bank to just buy the steam version where the latest trainer is already compatible.

And when in compliance with all those requirements, it still fails. ALL of the other trainers with the same requirements, still function, at least of the ones I use.By this, I don mean a WOW function. I mean an actual windows 7 machine running an older browser and even not using IE. The only times I even use IE are in those relatively rare circumstances where a page or site was written to specifically or exclusively run on IE. Of course that statement is irrelevant if your trainers make use of the IE integration and relevant APIs for accessing the authentication servers. For the most part, I don't like what MS has done with Windows since Windows 7. If it wasn't for the fact that DirectX 12 can only be used with with windows 10, I would still be using Windows 7 exclusively. As it is, I have a dual boot setup for circumstances like these and a second machine that is only a Windows 7 machine. If this file is truly not corrupt I would like to know why it is not working for me. I still haven't heard anyone say that they have tested the file by downloading it and then running it. Have you actually tested it to see if I am correct, or are you just assuming that this is a compatibility issue?

I am a programmer and I understand all about the compatibility issues between the different versions of windows. I can sympathize. MS screwed a lot of 3rd party developers when they made the changes they did with Windows 8 and they just kept making it more extreme with each subsequent release. Developers Weren't the only ones they screwed. They screwed the advanced users and many IT professionals by removing many of the more advanced tools within windows and redacting many policy options while adding other, more restricted, limiting and useless policies and trying to tie every install to MS servers and accounts.

I don't like Steam and avoid it whenever I can. I'm not the only one who who feels this way. I would be happy to donate a GOG version of this game, also only $9.99 just in case that will break your bank.

Further, a constructive suggestion: For those older games that were released under windows 7 or earlier, that still run on windows 10, either natively or in a WOW environment start a campaign where people can contribute their credits to get a newer trainer released. Some of the older games are still popular.

This trainer is the only complaint I have ever had with CH. It's such an issue for me, because I abhor Steam. It also irks me that Steam has become such a powerhouse in the gaming industry. My issues with Steam are not your fault and I'm not trying to suggest in any that they are. I'm just explaining why this trainer is an issue for me. The truth is, anything I want to do with trainer, I can do with other editors. The trainer is just easier.

That was snarky, insulting and I very much doubt CH starts ANY trainer from scratch. I would be very surprised if CH doesn't have a collection of customized tools and libraries that CH has developed, and keep guarded as intellectual property. As a programmer, I made some assumptions. If they are wrong, they are wrong and simply stating so would be adequate. If Steam truly makes such radical changes the base functions of a game, well, I just don't know how I would respond. I am a programmer, just not for games. I know I would not be happy if a distributor demanded I make radical changes to how my application accessed and used memory or any other aspect of the application. It's bad enough making sure you're not crossing any patent boundaries.

I followed the steps 1-3 from here - Link

Ran trainer with admin rights which starts, authenticates and works fine on a Windows 7 x64 system and the latest game version from GOG.

As I said before we already updated the MOST RECENT version of MOST of the older trainers to be compatible with Windows 7 and below. We did not go back and update every earlier version trainer, as that would be pointless.

The solution I pointed out has worked for EVERY trainer that has not had the Windows 8+ compatibility code added to it.

It doesn't matter if you use IE or not. The trainer uses it's API for authentication, specifically the URLMON.DLL file. Which is why the solution provided works as you can see by the post above mine.

Windows 7 is 8 years old and 3 OS generations behind (8, 8.1, 10).
