My advice to the wisewolf, get an I7 cpu desktop. Top it with a GTX quality graphics card and you are coming back with a VENGEANCE!!!
Don't forget to get a coffee maker and the strongest coffee you can find to go along with it. Sleep is overrated. We will have plenty of that when we depart from this world.
ordered a new MSI Slim AG270 27" w/GTX870M All-in-one Gaming desktop. That's a big ass screen PC compared to my current 23". I will write back with some inside into how my new machine preforms.
A sad day for me. MSI has stopped manufacturing of the product I ordered. The supplier called me to give this bad news and advised me to write in and get a refund from the website.
The retailer offered me another product with a higher price point and asked me to deal with him directly. I asked him to write to me with the product details ASAP.

can this be played independently of the 2 other DA's?, or will there be alot of references and such from the earlier games?

Depending on what you did in the previous games, there will be references... But no this honestly can't be played independently from the other two.

The Dragon Age Keep (online feature), lets you alter the choices from the first two games to your liking.
Once you're done it will go through an animated prologue that hits on the main points of the first two games. So yes, it is possible to play this game and more or less get the gist of the current state of the game world.
You'll miss out on recognizing familiar side mission NPCs and references, but those aren't really important if you're just looking to experience the game's main story.

yes , just like star wars in universe : different characters (some old ones) different look , new way of playing , same world but completely NEW GAME , in my opinion best DA game so far . all those whiners just need to google issues and fix it . id did it so plays well on amd 7870 crossfire ultra or single card but some ultra some high , beautiful world and everything , bioware did good , MUST HAVE FOR RPG FANS ! see for ur self . All the best.
