Good morning,
It appears that after a recent update to IE 11, the trainers I have for older games such as Medieval II: Total War, Empire: Total War, Homeworld 2 and others are causing game crashes after hitting F1 and attempting to start a new game. I have zero third party AV installed, Windows Defender is completely disabled as is the Windows Firewall and there is no further additional security software. Interestingly enough, trainers for newer games work just fine. An example of this is the most recent trainer for Banished which I have just finished playing for about an hour. The Call of Duty Advanced Warfare trainer is also working fine as well.
The OS is Windows 8.1 64 Pro and the version of IE is 11.0.9600.17416

That did not resolve the issue.
Still, why would the problem seem to only affect trainers for older games but not for newer ones?

We use different security templates all the time. Something on your PC is blocking them which can include IE settings, addons and extensions. No idea for us to know what it is.

You can try using System Restore to go back to when the trainers were working. There have been no other complaints of this nature and I use IE11 with no problems from trainers, old or new, unless they are not marked as Win8 compatible.
