I'm using Windows 10 and the trainer activates fine. Perhaps a reboot solves your problem?

Yeah it worked. Apparently "switching it on and off" is still the top solution for everything.

I'm having the same problem on Windows 8.1 but alas, no reboots of the trainer nor the game helps.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated since I'm starting to feel like a fool.

Do you have two cosmonautica processes running? There is no suggestion I can make because if the trainer finds two cosmonautica processes running, then there are two processes running. It may be possible that somehow a process is hidden (running as different user) or whatever but a reboot should solve it. Haven't had the case it didn't.

Even if I reboot my comp the trainer finds a Cosmonautica process running at the very instance I boot the trainer, even if Steam/Cosmonautica hasn't even started yet.
And I've probably rebooted my comp about fifty times since the problem started (Version 1.0.20.231) and no change.

The trainer itself generates the second cosmonautica.exe process. It creates 2 processes: cheathappens.com and cosmonautica.exe - but only if you've renamed your trainer file.

You need to make sure that you haven't renamed your trainer cosmonautica - either leave it as the default filename when it was downloaded or rename it cosmonautica1 or something.

Renaming the trainer file as 'cosmonautica' is what's causing the conflict.
