Sorry, I misread ... I'm used to reading Cheat Happens trainers mentioning the DLC or expansion to mean it's ALSO compatible with ... not that it required it. That is my bad.
Given that the game is apparently vastly different without the DLC installed, and yet still version 1.1.2.4935, it would seem that a non-Rising Tide version would be needed ... I guess I'll have to go request it.
you miss the point.. i cannot revert back to non-rising tide now that we have the DLC installed. PLUS we dont plan to keep updating 2 (or 3 or 5) or however many expansions that the developer creates.. if you have rising tides, the trainer works

"if you have rising tides, the trainer works"
That's the point ... it doesn't. Specifically, it doesn't work if you deactivate the Rising Tide DLC to run "vanilla" Beyond Earth. Sure most people won't care, but there's at least one achievement that can't be completed with Rising Tide activated because Rising Tide removed that game mode (Skirmish).
Given that the game mode "comes back" when you deactivate the DLC, it would seem clear that there is sufficient different in the code that they are effectively different games ... like how you have (had?) trainers for Civ V, Civ V Gods and Kings and Civ V Brave New World.
My take-away from this is that I will just have to 'suck it up'. Fair enough, but I felt it was worth asking.
we have the same problem with those games.. once we added DLC, we did not update the old versions. if the old non-DLC versions still work, it is purely luck.
