Neo7,
You seem to be very knowledgeable about W10 and I thought I would ask you about this. I had mentioned about my problems with not having the upgrade button and MS tech not being able to get it to come up after a 20 min. remote session. I just got the lastest email from the Insiders program with a download link. I have been part of the program as I have tried W10 on my tablet.
I was thinking; what if I just download W10 from the Insider program site and install it on my gaming rig? I wonder if that will take care of my upgrade issue and I would then just transition to the release version when it launched? Would you care to share your thoughts with me?
Thanks
You will need to retain your old license key just in case. The RTM build will come in as another flight but you will need to specify you want to leave the program after getting it. If you fail to do this before the next unstable build (insider preview will be ongoing after Windows 10), your PC will automatically upgrade itself to that unstable build.

The Insider version is tracking everything you do. Even after it will upgrade to the release version it tracks and sends everything to MS.
Maybe not a good idea.

This isn't anything new. Microsoft was extremely transparent through their licensing agreement and Gabe Aul has posted what kind of data the telemetry data contains:

The user can turn that off on the production release of Windows 10 but insider preview users will have it turned on by force as per their agreement with the Insider Program. Again users have the choice to exit the program when the production build rolls out and then they will gain the ability to turn off the telemetry data.
