My HTPC was custom built by me and has the necessary pre-load update on it ready for the day. It's not a widespread issue.
The update notice is tied to Windows Update KB3035583: Link

Yeah it is not a widespread issue, but an issue nonetheless. I likewise didn't have problems on my cobbled together HTPC just my gaming pc.
I am not worried about it just thought I'd mention it since the tech at MS told me it was a problem being addressed.
The Insider version is tracking everything you do. Even after it will upgrade to the release version it tracks and sends everything to MS.
Maybe not a good idea.

Nope not really. Release has different files and installation than any preview/insider/RC versions so that is just pure BS.
I'll update to 10 because free, I have currently 8.1 and it's better than 7. I actually installed 7 a few weeks earlier to a new SSD but after a few hours I decided that nope, not Seven again. Seven is good but 8.1 is even better.
'nuff said.

As long as there are no clear statements I'll not upgrade. Right now there is not much benefit of Windows 10. DirectX 12 isn't used yet, Oculus isn't released and Cortana is something I'll throw out of the ISO together with OneDrive for sure. So there is no argument why I should upgrade immediately and with 1 year I have enough time to think about.

Read, understand, respond.
The other coyote is asking to install the Insider version on his rig. He then wants to transit to the release version.
Microsoft offers the possibilty to upgrade and stay in the Insider programm if you use an Insider version now.

If you really think that this comes with no strings attached and MS turned into a non-profit organization ... go ahead, it's for free.
