    --edit

and yes, i know its a early acces, but still, some of the flaws should have been fixed long ago!

A few weeks ago? Yea they definitely had a few patches since then. The game definitely has potential, pretty fun once you get the hang of it.

Seems to be running smoothly now. What caught my eye was how the AI actually acted human like when attacking or defending.

None of those patches fixed the major issues, like melee not working for union troops (12 hours of playing, i have yet to pull off a succesfull Union charge), Cav/soldiers useless in charging a lone gun emplacement, or just guns in general, Units randomly deciding to break off combat without orders (this one in particular is ****ing me off!)

Those are major, and really needs to be fixed imo

also things like no matter how hard you batter a unit, beat it down from 1600 men, to 200, they still recover and come back, imo, they need to implement a flee off the field for battered units

Yea I definitely agree with you about enemy units who have been seriously beaten should be making a decision to leave the battlefield.

About the Cav soldiers, I noticed that they are only really good at flanking an enemy unit with one of you main units pushing that same enemy unit. I see what you are saying about that.

I read somewhere on the official game forums that units will tend to move around on their own if orders are given to them to stop, not sure what they intended to accomplish with this feature.

the units are suppose to be smart, and react to threats when the player might be tied up elsewhere, but the issue i have with this, is that, as an example, i have seen units, in the middle of a firefight, stop shooting, to maybe move 2 inches backwards, for no purpose whatsoever, before resuming firing, i also seen units just charge on their own, despite me telling them just to move in range for ranged skirmish

the idea on paper is good, the problem is with its execution

Ahhh hell yea, I know exactly what you are saying. The units do move like 2 inches back, but I always thought they were supposed to do that, like fallback a little and regain formation.

I'm sure people are posting about that in their forums. Yea I guess the game could use a little more fixing. It seems pretty popular now, waiting to see what their MP is going to be like.
