Hey guys, I'm hoping this POST catches the eyes of the site owners.
So I've been reading about the SteamOS, and decided that I want one when they come out later this year. However, most games I play, I do play with a trainer. I'm pretty sure the SteamOS hasn't been released to an open beta yet, so this is more of a random question.. But how do you, the site owners feel about trainer support on SteamOS and the steam box/machine, whatever it's or they are going to be called? I'm only looking for thoughts on this, but do you anticipate an enormous amount of work or a simple porting over the trainers to Linux based. And while on that subject, have you thought about some sort of program or module that operates like a git utility? Anyways, I happen to have an enormous amount of time on my hands this weekend with the holiday and all, so I get to bug people about stuff like this.

We have no plans to support this platform until it becomes as or more popular than the XONE and PS4 consoles. It's not just flipping a switch to "port" a trainer to Linux. There's a reason that you don't see an abundance of Linux trainers floating around. It's a completely different OS with limited memory editing and hacking tools. Your better bet would be to use the PC streaming option of the Steam box and just activate the trainer on the PC driving the stream.
I personally think that the Steambox will be a gigantic flop. $1000+ for a Steam box that plays about 8 games natively and the rest stream from the PC. Just plug the PC into the TV and use Big Picture mode then spend the $1000+ on something that you really need.

Good points. I really want the Steam box to make it, but there is a very very small voice in my mind that's a little doubtful. Anyways, thanks for the response. Love the site!

Let me preface this with the disclaimer that I am an utter amateur, please be gentle.
I played around with a few trainers in various methods running Windows programs in linux.
I managed to get your Attila and Rome 2 trainers to work, fully, in Peppermint 10. I used Lutris 5.0.4 and wine-steam (winestream is the folder name containing the pfx) runner. Lutris successfully installed .NET framework up through 4.8.2 through the GUI, winetricks etc installed, but utilized by Lutris not me.
Battletech trainer would not launch claiming I require .NET core 3.1, and now I'm banging my head against that. So maybe install 3.1 when you install up through 4.8.2? I am going to attempt that next, but going back to a fresh prefix is a little daunting to me right now.
There is also a way to run a Windows .exe in a Proton prefix via terminal that seemed to work for some people trying to run configuration panels and such. It didn't work for me, but I may have done something wrong. Here is where I found it steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/1734336452578488603/
While the trainers work, running the games this way seems to cause a big hit to performance. I'm seeing big framerate spikes compared to when I play them in steam's native linux form without trainers, as they are not compatible with linux and I can't get the proton trick to work. Not sure if this is just my old cpu or a layering problem.
I hope someone runs with this or can at least relate. Also system info for reference
