Anybody have any trouble with this? (the vulnerability that surfaced last month that has allegedly been addressed by Microsoft)I just got back from a trip and am hesitating to surf using IE.

The vulnerability concerns the Vector Graphics engine that IE relies on which causes a remote code execution exploit when a specifically crafted file exploits it. This is done through rogue websites that are deployed through suspicious links around "certain parts of the internet" and triggered upon visiting the rogue website.

TL-DR: Don't be an idiot surfing the web and you won't be infected.

PS: Microsoft has already released a patch for the exploit rendering it neutralized. You should probably update your OS

For some reason I still use Internet Explorer as my go-to browser. It's been the one I used since I started using the computer. I know there's better ones out there but continue to use it by force of habit. I'm probably gonna remove it from my taskbar and get into the habit of using Chrome or something.

Only if you dislike the IE interface. As far as I know, IE 10 and 11, 64bit versions, are unmatched in speed.

Seriously? That's something I didn't know. Did you hear that from a reliable source?

Even if not the fastest, the difference speed in modern browsers is negligible (you are comparing to milliseconds in the single digits for complete load time for 99% of web pages). It really is a matter of preference.

I always liked IE for one reason -- it was the easiest browser to use if you wanted to make a bookmark! Kind of like buying a car because you like the glovebox . . . )
