Ok, so I don't know if it's a bug with the Trainer, if I'm not doing something right, if there was an update (if that is the case, I'll put in a report).
Whenever I use the "Research Costs Zero" option on the Trainer (and yes, I am using "Capture Research" first), it changes the cost of Luxury Resource Boosters and Volcanoformer production cost to 0. It doesn't change the costs of the Science Research I was trying to reduce.
Just trying to eliminate the possibility of User Error or a weird bug before filing an update report.
Please provide a savegame with exact and easily repeatable instructions and the location of the savegame on your hard drive so Caliber can reproduce the issue.
Zip/rar/7z it before uploading it here on the thread.

Start a single player game (have found no settings/faction that affect the outcome). Extract or buy any luxury resource. Follow the appropriate steps to make a Science Research free with the Trainer - "Capture Research" with the research screen open, mouse over a research (one that is currently being researched?) and use the trainer option "Research Costs Zero".
The research cost should not change, but you can now activate Luxury Resource boosters for free. If you are using the Kapaku (or a custom faction based on them), you will also be able to create Volcanoformers for free from Strategic Resources.
The save file is attached - it is located at "C:\Users\User\Documents\Endless Legend\Save Files" on my computer.

Yeah, that's not what I'm seeing at all. No mods, all the official add-ons, game and Trainer both fully up to date.

I followed it step by step, even going so far as to pick the same race and try to click the Researches in the same order.

And I noticed that Caliber doesn't have the Pillage, Boarding Vessel, or Fire Ship researches, does not have the Alter of Auriga (above the "end turn" button), and does not have Legendary Deeds - this means at the very least, he does not have the Shadows, Tempest, Shifters, or Guardians content packs (4 out of 6 possible DLC) - he's literally not using the "full" version of the game to test this.

try copying what I did on non-DLC fresh run/fresh start of game, then try it on your load of DLC.
I have no other suggestions. You are right, I don't own 5 DLC for this game, nor am I going to update a trainer for DLC on a game that literally has 20 version/updates in the 'collection'.. this game is almost 5 years old..
