I did some research for Steam Family Sharing. I found this:
    Link

"Will I be punished for cheating or fraud Any Conducted by other users while playing my games?

Library privileges Sharing Your Family May be Revoked and your account May Also be VAC banned if your library is used by others to conduite cheating or fraud. Additionally, VAC-banned games cannot be shared. We recommend you only familiar Authorize computers you know to be secure. And as always, never give your password to anyone. "

I'm sure it will help people.

So if I understand don't try to cheat with your Steam Family Sharing.

Maybe you should create an other real account to buy and play to this game because VAC does not make a ban by IP and only the account is concerned.

I think there's just been a lot of issues with the servers themselves for Dark Souls II the past few days.

They've been going down for maintenance a lot lately. If you do some searching other people are having problems connecting to friends and summoning people, so it's not just people using the trainer.

I don't think there's any soft ban's in effect because I just got summoned by a non-cheating user and I helped him out... He didn't have infinite anything and was incredibly nubbish... so why would he need help if he was cheating?

I've been using the trainer since day 1 and I even used the max all stats button on my first character (regrettably) because now it's impossible to find anyone to play with on that level...

After getting all the achievements and doing NG++ I started a fresh character and I'm keeping my level around 120-150 this time... I'm able to be summoned... it's just been taking a while cause there's definitely something wonky going on with the Dark Souls II servers.

One contributing factor that people might be mistaking for a soft ban is the Company of Champions covenant which is located in Majula right at the start of the game. (It's the giant stone epitaph located up some stairs next to the stair case leading downwards to Heide's Tower of Flame / Huntsmans Copse)

This covenant, once activated and abandoned STILL REMAINS IN EFFECT... you can NOT go back from this once you've activated it... You're essentially activating a permanent "HARD MODE" once you join this covenant.

The rules for this Covenant are as follows:

    1. Can not summon anyone...EVER.
    2. Can not be summoned... EVER.
    3. Enemies are more aggressive and have bolstered defenses.
    4. You can still be invaded by other players.
    5. This effect carry's over to NG+ and beyond.

I understand that most people want to rank all their covenants up to level 3 to obtain all the special items but trust me, the items from the covenant aren't worth getting. There are a few other unworthy covenants like the Brotherhood of Blood and the Blue Sentinels, as well as The Bell Keepers Rank 3 set... it's just not worth the time put in to get the Rank 3 spells as you can purchase them from Chancellor Wellager on NG++.

Until a statement is released by From Soft I wouldn't get too fanatical in believing there's such a thing as a "soft ban". I'm pretty sure it's either you're banned or you aren't... I doubt they would go to such lengths.

Tips to avoid not being summoned:

    1. Make a new character and NEVER, EVER, join the Company of Champions.

    2. Keep your soul level and memory at a reasonable level. Do not press the reset level or super stats button on the trainer, EVER.

    3. If you're in the habit of always wearing the Name Engraved Ring, stop doing this. It actually narrows your search down and limits the number of summon signs you will see and will limit who see's your own sign.

    4. If you complete a boss and try to put your sign down with the regular sized White Soapstone, you will be wasting your time as NO one will see this. You MUST use the small white soap stone to be summoned after you clear the area's boss.

Regular White Soap Stone = 30 minute summon, single boss fight, or roughly 20 enemies killed before duty is fulfilled. Can only be used BEFORE clearing an area's boss.

Small White Soap Stone = 5 minute summon, single boss fight, or roughly 8 enemies killed before duty is fulfilled. Can be used at any time

    I hope this helps.

I'm going to continue doing tests once the server's are in better shape because since yesterday they were down for nearly 16 hours and it's been hard to find people playing online because of this.

I won't write a bunch of stuff again to prove/disprove theories again or to simply state my point of view, but I'll stick with the soft ban.
I don't mean to be rude, but this info can easily be found anywhere and I believe everyone who looked deep into this problem already know that.

    thx for your info XRizerX
but i had joined and then abandon Company of Champions before. Now i still can summon or be summoned by other ppl A LOT! and i saw many summon sign both regular and small signs.

so i think it still ok if you abandon that covenant to make your friends join you.

I think this whole banning thing is bs and unfounded. I haven't been able to connect period to other "cheaters" or anyone. Im still confident that its purely down to the fact that the servers are out of whack and not coping with the load.

I have 2 steam accounts with dark soulk. One where I cheated, one where I didn't. Bought the game twice.
Can you explain me, why I can't summon or invade with one account, but 5 minutes later I can do it with another?
Tried it several times, and my Account where I cheat is definetly softbanned. Think about it: Same IP, same computer, different account, different results.
If you know another reason, please tell me, because I would love to play online with my presumably softbanned account
