I too have experienced this. Although I did notice it was the Engi cruiser. Great trainer regardless.

After reading this, what makes the drone parts seem to fail is any ship that has three drone slots, as opposed to the regular two. These triple drone ships must use some other value to store the drones.

The location was easy to find for drones with CoSMOS; if you're really desperate for infinite drones you can use that.
