I don't know what the issue is but I just want to point out that for a number of trainers (DmC, war of the human tanks, banished, and maybe a few more that I forget) it works perfectly on my old windows 7 system but nothing I do can get it to work on my new 8.1 system (like seriously, on my windows 7 I don't have to do anything special, it just works while 8.1 I tried all the troubleshooting and end up with many of the same issues you guys can't replicate here)

Anyway I have no idea how you code your trainers so I dunno if there's an easy solution (I don't have to force downgrade my internet explorer still do I?) but I'm 90% sure that if I just did a clean install of windows, all the above trainers would work as intended. But its not related to the game and/or its anti-cheat protections so I don't expect an answer.

Anyway, I know that some people have suggested that trainers might be working on your side because you have some outdated residual files that let it work but I have come to the conclusion that it is something special, changed after installation, on their systems that is creating the issue.

This trainer has always been compatible with Windows 8. Make sure you are running the 64-bit version of the game. Disable/uninstall all AV, firewall and other security software. Right click run as admin on trainer.

Hate to add in more 'it isnt working' BUT, It isn't working. LOL

Specifics of the issue for me are the following.

Running the 1.0.4 trainer as admin.
Running the steam 64 bit .exe as admin.
Avast is disabled (which works for other trainers from this site)
At the main menu I press F1, hearing the 'trainer activated' as expected.
Then I load up a save game (using 3 mods; infinite mine/quarry, increased fishing productivity, new sawmill building)
I select a storehouse that has some food in it and press numpad 1.
The trainer says 'Activated'
The game crashes.

I have been reading through a few pages, tried a few things, but nothing seems to help and no one seems to have my exact problem.

I also will throw my hat into the not working. I have tried all the suggested fixers only to have the two options lock high or low work. I have been with cheat happens for a pretty decent amount of time and I have never had a trainer not work. So I read all the pages and the other post about how to use the two options as suggested. I even tried to use the other trainers with no luck. I even downloaded another version and still did not work. I am curious as to how others have been able to get it to work and/or how many. Did I do something wrong? Do I have it in the wrong folder since my trainer folder is in another directory from my steam games? Any help would be greatly appreciated. (with Trainer #2)
I tried with the #1 1.04 trainer a fatal error has occurred in Application steam x64.exe and the game cannot continue A crash dump has been written to c:\users\........banised\save\crash.dmp

I somehow killed my original post. I'm on 1.0.4 build 141103 and the current trainer posted today is for 141123. This leads me to believe GOG hasn't picked up on the updated build.

Yes since the keys * and / are part of the numeric keypad
