Well with the new rule about requiring lifetime membership for a game patched more than 20 times I can't decide between lifetime and yearly. I was going to get just the yearly until I saw the new rule. So if I buy yearly now will I get credit toward lifetime if I decide to upgrade before the yearly expires?

No, only if you upgrade within 10 days. After that it's full price.

Ok let me ask this. I mostly play splinter cell blacklist and far cry three. Is it likely those games will be patched more than 20 times?

Far Cry 3 hasn't been patched in a loonng time neither has blacklist as far as I know.
