backup files first before changing

Go to folder-
\SteamApps\common\Starbound\assets\recipes\starter\stonefurnace

Edit any of the recipes for ore->bar, change the output item to any item you want, save the file, load up the game, and smelt that ore, and there you go.

E.g change copperbar.recipe to

And you get the awesome fishaxe which is a dev tool for instantly mining a 7x7 area.

All items are listed in the items folder.

After youve gotten what you want, its best to exit game, and put the recipe back to what it was, or you wont be able to make it normally any more.

Unfortunately from what I've seen so far we can't emulate the random generation through this though, which means we can't spawn in a random legendary gun for example.

I tried this and it works but when I try one of the back items like toxicflower it just spawns something called "Perfectly generic cube(?)".

i killed a monster and got that cube grrr

its actully "toxicflowerback", make sure you got the word "Back" with back items, and for leg items there actully "Pants"

if people want an awesome gun, spawn in the 'buster' its a semi automatic blaster gun, that can also charge the shot to fire a huge fire ball. Its awesome
