I'm assuming this has to do with the fact that they completely redid the game's engine, correct?

Yes, they used a simple game maker software to create the game and the latest patch changed the only method I know of where a trainer can be created with. There was another game I cannot remember which did the same. I assume it's caused by an update of the gamer maker software.

If anyone wants to cheat on their own, I was able to tweak a few things to make the game a bit easier with CoSMOS.

By setting the data type to double, I was able to search for my max health. I just went through the first stage, leveled up a few times, and then when I had it narrowed down to 5 or 6 values, got hit once, to eliminate my current health (which I couldn't freeze). After I had the 5 or 6 max health values figured out, I just set them all to 3500 or so. You could probably set them much higher, but I wasn't trying to break the game.

With the double data type, I was also quickly able to find the money value on each stage after killing one or two enemies.

Your health should stick between stages, so just set it high enough in the first stage, and you aren't freezing anything, and you shouldn't have to search for it again. However you lose all your money each stage, and the memory address changes, so you'll need to do a new search each stage, unless you know some trick I don't.

could anyone point me in the right direction of wich version the last trainer works and if there is any way to downgrade a game on steam 😵

The game is retired the latest trainer will not work with the latest steam version and sadly there is no way to downgrade a game on steam.

is there no way then to know wich version it worked with then ? the last released trainer ? that i would like to know

i have been able to freeze health at 9999 along with maxhealth, the health value is rounded (default) , i just finished an hour long game that i would have been dead many times over had it not been for having infinite health
