XCOM: Enemy Within Message Board  

I finally got the barracks thing working (used a different technique) a bit misleading for the video

STEP 1: Click VIEW SOLDIERS (THE NAMES ONLY)
STEP 2: Click "[" (For Change in RANK)
STEP 3: Click the soldier you want to EDIT---- the model will appear then you will hear "deactivated"
STEP 4: DON'T CLICK the abilities, immediately click the modifiers
Numpad +: Add Value
Numpad -: Subtract Value
Numpad *: Super Value
STEP 5: CLick SPACE or ESC and your rank will be higher this
took me 3 hours to figure out

Also works for barracks HEALTH DEFENSE WILL and such.

I wish I could post some screen shots so anyone could follow

****IN the video shown, you can't hear the deactivated sound plus once you click the activated, the addition subtraction modifiers will be disabled so you have to wait the "deactivated" to modify

Mucho Importante to run as administrator (WINDOWS 7)

AND FOR RANKS, you must already have a specialization because you will be promoted as "TRAINEE" a useless class

Cannot get stats to stick on the soldiers. I can edit them fine using the trainer, and then I save the game and reload it. The stats are still there. However when the mission finishes and I head back to base all of my characters stats have reset.

Does steam have this much of a hardon against people modding games or is this from the makers of Xcom? Cause it's fairly frustrating.

this is normal. you would need a file editor to edit the 'real' stats which are stored in a file from when you are at the base. this is actually pretty normal for all games.

Ok, I guess I'll have to start using them instead of the cheats happens files. Even when you up the accuracy and defense and it shows it's still only giving me 13% to hit. They should post something that these editors and trainers dont work anymore.

No you misunderstood.. the trainer work just like they always did and always have. you either use the options IN THE BASE to make the changes to the characters THERE, or you use them WHILE IN COMBAT to temporarily change them during combat.

nothing has changed with the trainers and they function as they always did. Please don't use your confusion and misunderstanding how to use the trainers to try and put words in our mouths or mistake it as the trainer isn't working.

I can't get the latest trainer to work at all. I've read the instructions a few times and tried every combination of activation keys and screen changes that I could think of and I could only get cash/credits to work. No meld, no barracks upgrades, no elirium, etc., etc.

So I closed the game and the trainer, turned off my AV and defender and then tried again. Now the trainer goes into an "Activated" "Deactivated" loop and becomes unresponsive when I hit F1.

I've read about half of the posts in this thread and I don't see anyone else with exactly the same problem. I'm hoping there's something simple I'm missing?

reboot to clear keyboard cache

disable/uninstall all AV, firewall and other security software. right click run as admin on trainer. run trainer. run game. alt tab to trainer and press f1 to activate. alt tab to game and use options as directed.
