Feedback, Complaints or Problems

Lately I've been buying games from the relatively popular charity-website (not sure if should mention who it is, so I won't) and every time I look up a game, it seems about 90% of the time the trainer is retired.

But I look at the game status and there hasn't been a patch for them for up to 2 or 3 years in some cases...

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but you could have produced an update to that game's trainer 2 or 3 years ago and wouldn't have had to have done a single update to it since then.. as long as there aren't any patches.

Granted, some games are made Steam-compatible. That would, I'm sure, require a patch.

I recommend some kind of "legacy" trainer status. When a game reaches the point where you retire it.. for whatever reason.. put it on the "legacy" listing. Then update the trainers for it every 3 months (or check to see if it needs one). In most cases you won't have any updates to do. But we can actually have a working trainer for those games instead of searching game after game after game that has been retired years ago or that doesn't have a trainer at all.

That way you keep your paying costumers happy, you really have low-maintenance on those games anyway.. win/win.

BTW -- Games are retired for a reason. We have no fewer than 3000 titles on active status at any given time, many of which update on a near daily basis. Every time we have to reinstall some 2 year old game that patched in order to add floating pumpkin heads for Halloween, we have uninstall something else that will probably patch the next day. All of this takes time and we have a limited amount of it. We can't re-visit every 10 year old game every time GOG decides to put it on sale for 35 cents, just to have a grand total of about 5 members download it.

Just a comment: You can't really count a game as active if there hasn't been an update in months or years and the last few comments (especially those that go unanswered for months) were that it doesn't work... Closing the comments without justification just makes it look like you don't have the time to deal with your customers.

When I mention "not working" in my list below, that indicates that the game is classified as "active", but the trainer is not. That's either because of several unanswered comments in the forum about the game, an update that has happened without a change to the trainer, or the fact that it was made available on Steam without an update to the trainer.

The ones that say "no trainer" indicate you either have a link in the trainer section to no trainer, or there is no mention of the game at all. It IS, however, confusing to have links to trainers that don't exist.

Hopefully you take this as constructive criticism and a way to make your website better.

After all, those 5 members you mentioned, that go to download that 10 year old game.. have paid you to get a working trainer.

And yes, I'm among the people you've issued rude responses to when I've asked about the state of games.

Note those without trainers have probably not had enough people asking to see if a trainer can be made or do not even need a trainer for it. Also those that have been retired have either been stopped due to constant complaints/combined with ignorance to read the trouble shooter and the help that has been given. Or not providing enough information to so it could be reproduced to fix. Note if the makers see it running on there own systems. Then the trainer is working. If the end user fails to get it working even after they have followed the help then there is not much else that can be done. I could go on.

So, we're supposed to make a trainer for all of the Counter Strike games? I'm sure that would go over well with the CS community.

We are not going to automatically make a trainer for every single game known to man. If that is what you are expecting out of your big $49 membership fee then you need to go elsewhere. That doesn't even cover the cost of a single game yet you expect trainers for every game, plus every update and until the end of time. Give me a friggin break.
