So I Rma'd my last laptop because of faulty keyboard and i'm looking to buy a new one, I found the laptop of my dreams but the only thing that bugs me is the Hdd which is not 7200rpm, insted it's Hybrid 1tb 5400rpm sata+sshd 8Gb for cache.
My only question is will it perform like 7200rpm Hdd or better/worst?
Thanks for your help.
as with all hybrid solutions , the first time something gets loaded or written to a hdd, it uses that speed, the second time its loaded or written it reads from that cache
also depending if that ssd works as sata2 or 3 makes a big difference, also depending if the hybrid solution is already a sata 3, if so then the speed of that hybrid comes close to a real SSD sata 3

but always take in account that the first time some is written or read, it goes from the 5400 hdd, beeing a tad slow

Thanks bro, so if I understand correctly in some cases it will perform much better than a 7200rpm Hdd even close to ssd, but it will perform poorly when loading some programs and games for the first time?
should be just like any "only" hdd the first time something is loaded or written, windows boot, when the 1st time from that hybrid would go slow, the second time it boots should be already way faster, same goes for games i bet
btw when you run windows experience bench, it always shows a low hdd speed, no matter how many times you run it, since that bench only benches the hdd itself, not the cache

this ocz cache synapse ssd shows it the best what i ment, its a combination of a hdd+sdd and some specialized software" dataplex"

btw of course any 7200 rpm is faster then a 5400 rpm, but i bet they did it for reliability, taking a 5400 one, they could put a velociraptor 10k rpm in it lol as 1 package, getting way hot

Well I guess the overall exp will be better than the 7200, hopefully.
thanks again man.
This is the laptop btw: Link

No.
For things you use the most often, it will work at SSD speeds.
For everything else it will be 5400rpm drive speeds.
The drive will move what is most used to the solid state memory. This will probably end up being things like your browser and video player, etc, and the game or two you play most often.
