    Hey folks,

I'm looking for a new game to play, but it doesn't have to technically be new. I've been looking for an RPG which has a sort of resource dump/upgradable home or something similar.

I don't know if any of you played Neverwinter Nights 2. If you have, I'm talking about something similar to the Keep you get. You need to upgrade it and get it ready for the impending siege. Which effects the outcome of the game.

    or

Something that has really awesome character progression or a decent flexible character skill tree and a good crafting system. Pretty much I'm looking for something that will take up time, and pays off eventually.

I've been looking at some top blah lists and I've played a lot of the top ones, and the others are more story orientated and lack time sinks or are in beta/early access and don't yet include everything they are advertising.
"The tools may be more effective than those who battled before you but make no mistake, you are no less a barbarian than your ancestors with their clubs and rocks. The only difference now is you do it without honor; cowering behind your guns, your bombs. You don't use tactic, just force..."

I say you should try the Baldurs gate series.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is great, but a bit dated.
    For Macaragge.

I can think of a handful, but it might be helpful to know what you have already played aside from just the Neverwinter sequel.

Mind you not all of these have a keep, but in my personal opinion are definitely worthwhile RPGs.

    Fallout series
    The Witcher series
    S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
    Elder Scrolls series
    Divinity series
    Fable series
    Mass Effect series
Gothic series (though admittedly, I own Arcania, but have never had an opportunity to crack it open... which I have heard is probably for the better).
Knights of The Old Republic series
    Bio Shock series
    Borderlands series
    Drakensang series
    Dragon Age series
    Jade Empire
    Two Worlds series

And, although this is another I have never played, I have heard decent reviews about the Sacred series.
That is the smartest thing I have ever heard anyone say about anything.

    I've recently played the
    Two Worlds series
    Dragon Age series
    Borderlands series
    The Witcher series
    Elderscrolls Morrowind through Skyrim
Fallout 1, 3 and New Vegas
    Bioshock Series
    Mass Effect Series
    Neverwinter Nights Series
    Saints Row Series
    Tomb Raider
    Dungeon Siege 2 and 3
    Divinity 2
Gothic 4 (Which I didn't mind too much)
    STALKER

I've never been a big fan of Starwars games. The last game I played was Starwars Galaxies before they screwed with the combat and Battlefront 2.

I will take a look at Jade Empire and Drakensang though.

    ARCANIA IS NOT GOTHIC!

    lol

    Back to OP :P

Dragon Age Inquisition "so far" may have a castle building and upgrading system for battles online.

Not sure if Forsaken Fortress ever get off the ground, it was on kickstarter last year and featured RPG elements with base building.

Obviously XCOM games are RPG elements and base building :P

    Cortex Command

Conquest of Elysium an old style Might and Magic type.

    Majesty games.

Oh and Don't forget some tuts on ASM and defeating DMA

    Majesty games.

I know that Arcania is technically not Gothic, but it is widely accepted as Gothic 4. Steam even sells it as part of their Gothic bundle (mind you it is the Arcania+Gothic bundle).

Regardless, I would agree that XCOM has significant RPG elements, and it is a great series.

I was not impressed with the Majesty games, but they are primarily RTS any way.

If you haven't yet, check out this site... they focus primarily on RPGs and I am certain you can find some great suggestions that we are all leaving out: Link

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've picked up Jade Empire, Drakensang, and "backed" Forsaken Fortress. I've already played through Vampires Masquerade Redemption and Bloodlines, and XCOM Enemy Unknown, but I just noticed a new Expansion came out for it so I got that too.

As far as Dragon Age, I'm going to be getting it regardless of a building element because I live the series and its lore.

Another game I found, not out yet mind you, was Sui Generis. It was funded on Kickstarter and features what could be some very interesting elements. It also 'kind of' reminds me of Neverwinter Nights 2 in terms of design and graphics.

More info here on their kickstarter:Link

    and their webpage here: Link

Any more suggestions if you have any are welcomed.
