Id like to point out, as a cheat way around squalor, you can always edit the taxes. i made it so at the highest tax rate setting i get 99 order bonus empire wide and no minus in growth.

It was far easier then trying to reduce squalor if you ask me. I used the Pack file manager on the data_rome2 file and edited tax levels under the DB tab. there are a few tax marked tabs under db but i edited the top one and it seemed to affect the rest too. you have to remember to turn off "read only" in the pack file managers menu's tho or it wont allow you to save it.

As always make a backup before trying this out. I think you can find the pack file manager by googling it by the by as i forget where i got mine, probably the total war forums or something.

Mind you it might still be bit of fiddling around for you, as it was for me, but it does work. tested myself and works fine.

How did you get it to open Rome 2? It does not se4 it for me..

A pack file manager version 3 is currently in the works. It's in beta version 7 atm.

Since it's beta there can be issues. For me it doesn't open any Rome 2 files and just shows a grey background when I have a look at the tables. It works fine with Shogun and Empire though.

Trainer doesn't seem to work when you edit these files

Haven't seen any issues on my end when using trainer and mods.

hmm I don't think my trainer is out of date I'll have a couple more goes at it to see if I've done something wrong

there was a tiny 22 mb patch that came in yesterday, after the main patch on friday. It's caused my trainer have no effect unfortunately. However I'll wait patiently for the next trainer. I don't mind playing without the trainer anyway once my empire is up and running. Will just need to remember to turn off the auto update this time hehe.

id like to add aswell that i did eventually run into a funny little bug, but i cant verify if it is because of my editing of said files or not. but having nited most of france under my gallic federation, the last two cities want to join my federation but when i say yes, the game crashed to desktop. very peculiar bug really but im not sure if its the vanilla game beeing mean or if its my editing lol.

And yes its pack file manager 3, beta version, the directry i set the pack file manager to work in was the data folder if that makes any difference. The manager is .. alittle iffy on occasion and many times have had to restart it to get it functioning on me properly. Doubt theres any trick to it honestly, just a matter of keep trying i spose?.

Now i did try to edit how much taxes would give me aswell, but i dont think that took at all. at maximum taxes i earn roughly 115% taxes, where's i put it to 999 in the editor, then later to 99, but no change in the actual game so thats a bust. unless its new gamne only wich i did not attempt.

im going to fiddle abit but i can say i enjoyed the game alittle more without having to concern myself with rebellions every so often or micromanaging every single province's squalor.

I could upload my edited rome file for those interested, but ive no idea how that would be done to be honest, and it also might be irrelevant, as every patch will likely overwrite it, hence making you have to edit it manually every time.

i dont THINK it disables the trainer, but again, i cant be certain, i assumed it was the tiny patch that messed it up.
