pack file manager is out, although it is still beta. maybe we can edit the squalor value. i think level iv building with 12 squalor is too much and no building with 12 order.

colosseum, if i remember right, gives 30, maybe 35, its expensive, yea, but it'll keep the squalor down fine

    edit---

there's also the Race Track, i think that gives another 20

    That is correct...
Take Sparta as an example (which is really a part of Hellas Province). If you build military in Sparta, their squalor will affect all the 3 cities in Hellas...if you build Temples (and other buildings that promote Order) in Athens and Larissa, the Order will affect all 3 cities. Inn fact, you need to look at provinces as 1...
When i play Sparta, i make all my infantry in Sparta and navy in Athens with the rest being Order buildings (temples, aqueducts...)untill i can expanded into Macedonia...then i produced cavalry there and siege weapons.
You still need to always keep a close eye on the regions Public order because it is also affected by events (such as slaves, food availability, etc...)...but if you keep it tight, you should have plenty of time to react.

Let me know if thats clear mate.

    Cheers

It's a major pain in the butt and one of the things that's killing the game for me...turning it into a SimCity where folks occasionaly do an iron-coated mosh pit (aka battles).
You need to manage your buildings very carefuly and spread the squalor-generating buildings throughout your provinces. i.e. build 2 military encampments in Rome...in the other 2 cities in the province, build TEMPLES (yes, it's a religious experience now...)...also, develop your philosophy tech tree and use your agents (best ones are the heroes or champions) to perform activities in the regions that promote order (heroes will tell tales of battles, blablabla).~
Basically, until you need at least 3 complete provinces to have a fully functioning "war machine"...1 for troops, 1 for navy and armor/weapon upgrades and 1 for siege equipment and cavalry...at least, thats how im working around it for now.

OBVIOUSLY, if our CH gurus could include something to "freeze" squalor, now that would be heavenly!! (hint!).

P.S. they've announced a patch for friday...doubt it will fix anything related to playability...but worth waiting to see.

Hey WDRatt, maybe you can answer some questions for me.

First, it sounds like your saying the upgrades from stuff like a workshop apply to ALL your territories, not just the ones your built in. Is that what your saying, or do you mean to move your troops from other provinces into that province and then upgrade them individually?

Second, you say to build temples in the other two cities. Does the +public order from temples in one city, say, Sparta, apply to ALL the cities in that province? So if I were to turn Sparta into a military city, and then make Athens into the holy land, Sparta would get the all the public order boosts too?

Cheers for your help, these kinds of systems are not very clearly explained in the game so I appreciate the help.

buildings inside a province, applies to ALL the cities in it, so if you build a +order temple in Rome for example, it also applies to the 3 other towns, goes for all buildings, same with +order from army, you only need 1 army, to get order bonus in the whole province

something the game fails to explain on its own......im a TW vet, all the way from the first shogun, and this eludet me, till i saw it on the forum, i can only imagine how much harder it is for a TW newbie

also, from my current playtime, im at the conclusion that agents, except for champion giving army xp, are completly useless

i disagree mate...they are not useless; use them well and they can enormously facilitate your attacks, attriting armies, inciting revolts...they certainly are a pest doing that to me!!!
Not to mention, put them in your armies so they protect the general from getting assassinated...

    whats pack file manager??

the highest order building i found was a temple with 8, playing Roman...but since they have a 25% order penalty, it's still unbalanced...

Not sure about Rome but some of the higher tier civilian buildings can get some great bonuses. The Amphitheatre for Egypt gives +20, with another +4 if you have Bread edict in place. I started throwing one or two of those in each of my capital cities and it helps a lot. Not sure how that translates to other factions like Rome, however.

with the current AI, there is no point to agents

AI doesn't use agents against me - no need to counter with my own

AI doesn't field full armies, they still suffer from what we saw in Shogun 2, running around with small 3 unit armies, instead of putting them into 1 - no need to sabotage/attrition

AI is so inept at governing its own regions, example, Rome Turn 3, i sail down a navy to carthage, its 47 in negative order, with -29 per turn - why pay 1000 denari for a agent when my enemy forces revolt on themself....

i could go on, the list is endless

i know im bashing the game, but its for VALID reasons....
