I'm not using the trainer just yet, trying to play as Sparta legitimately for the first go but I thought you guys should see this.

Total War: Rome 2 to get first patch this Friday, weekly fixes for immediate future

There will be at least one update every week for the foreseeable future. I guess it's better than one update every day.

Creative Assembly have announced the update and support strategy for their latest Total War, and, like the city it's based on, revealed that Rome II won't be patched in a day. The developers plan to release fixes for the game "on a weekly basis in the immediate future", targeting their updates based on player feedback, as they configure and tune the release post-launch.

"As with all large PC releases, the variety of hardware and general system specifications can cause issues for some people and we are urgently working to help get them the right experience," they say. "As announced last month, we are also planning to tweak the balancing, AI routines and other features now that we’re getting real-time metric feedback from thousands of players."

"The result is that the first update to the game will drop this Friday, with the intention to update the game on a weekly basis in the immediate future."

The full patch notes will be released on Friday, but CA say that it will target "known instances of crashes due to hardware conflicts alongside several other performance fixes." In the meantime, they point people to the game's support forums, where a number of fixes and workarounds have been suggested for those experiencing graphics issues.

Our review found a great game, marred slightly by AI bugs. As such, it's good to see a stated commitment to fixing the issues that players are having.

"The tools may be more effective than those who battled before you but make no mistake, you are no less a barbarian than your ancestors with their clubs and rocks. The only difference now is you do it without honor; cowering behind your guns, your bombs. You don't use tactic, just force..."

Yeah i haven't used the the trainer yet myself. But with the weekly updates my guess is you may need to set the game not to update if your going to use the trainer. As i don't see pwizard as wanting to make a trainer once a week almost like mount and blade warband lol.

Does setting the game not to update actually ever work? Every game I tried this on would not launch unless I updated. The only trick that does work is to use steam offline, but that has to be set before the client detects the patch.

Simply play the game in steam off line mode and it will not update.

That. Before the trainer for the patch comes out you can use that. Or you can set it to never update and start it directly from the Rome2.exe in Steam/steamapps/common/Total War Rome 2.

1 patch/week in the first few weeks sounds reasonable. Normal even. Think the guys here are happy it's not the kind of patching Eugene Systems does, with 1 every couple of days the first 2 weeks. That is annoying.
