angryjoe had some "fun" with this disaster game

    Link

Half of what Joe was complaining about was bullsh*t though.
He was all "F**king naval battles are BROKEN! Look, I can't beat these agile warships with my troop transports, even though all I did was click attack once! IT'S SO BROKEN! PIECE OF SH*T! I'm telling them to ram that ship that's four feet away from it, and it's not ramming it! SO BROKEN... what do you mean ships need to pick up speed before it can ram another ship? Pfft, totally broken..."

I like a lot of his reviews, but he's so far off the mark with this one it's not even funny. No one's suggesting the game isn't buggy in its current state, but feeding over a million subscribers false information is extremely poor form.

Aye it'll get fixed, it's just a question of when.
All the internet's aflame with surprised rage about a buggy Total War release; all I'm surprised about is that people are surprised!

Nope, he's dead on, apart from the AI being retardet, there is zero reason to field navies, as trooptransports are bigger, more health, more men, more ramming damage, if you field a navy stack against a army stack, the army will win every time, sad but true

seems those game maker guys are or tight to a time schedule to bring out a not 100 % tested game, or simply bring it out anyway and wait for the gamers to have their feedback for worse and good
but it happens a bit to many times with a lot games, indie or aaa titles

I know transport ships CAN be powerful in naval battles (Accompanying proper warships with a few transports of peltasts and archers has worked well for me), and I agree that this should not really be the case, Joe was complaining because he was getting his arse handed to him by warships, and that he was completely inept and got all his big, slow ships tangled together in a big clump.

So which is it? It's broken because transports are perhaps overpowered, or it's broken because transports are easily outmaneuvered by small warships, causing enormous losses?

you don't get it, its broken because there is NO naval ai pathing, your ships act like they're alone in the water, and will ram into any friendly unit between itself, and the target, THAT'S what's he complaining about, and its dead on

    ----edit

and here's a thread on fleet vs army

    forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/79868-With-transport-ships-whats-the-point-of-building-navies

the general opinion is that fleets are useless, except for catapult ships, but those are high tier and expensive, so not really worth using over just an army stack

I've played quite a few naval battles now, and I've had no trouble with the lack of naval pathing, but then again I keep on top of where I send my ships and the formations and tactics I use. I guess some people consider that micro management or something, and just want to click 'attack' and then watch. To each their own.
