While this has been confirmed, the last couple of episodes and feedback show that there is a 0.00000000000000000000001% chance that this could change.
For OP: Depends on what season you are. Each season he has a "nemesis", someone that is either a killer or someone that is disrupting Dexter's life or way of life in some way or another that he has to go, the difficulty and luck Dexter requires to get out of these being different each season, and what he loses and gains by succeeding in getting rid of him/her/them allows him to "evolve" as a psychopath, an evolution that due to the show's nature (being inside his "head" ) the viewer can follow closely.
So yes, because being a normal person which is what Dexter gradually strives for in the latter seasons has it's own problems that he will have to fix, along with the psychopath ones.
