steam pushed through another update and it appears that the trainers work without the tool again..
maybe others can confirm there.
best,
Cal
quicktested it on 4 games, and the results are still the same, all working with the tool, crashing without, and i just got the latest steam update
tested on:
Bioshock infinite
TW:Shogun 2
The walking dead

Offical responce on the steam thread
''It looks like the recent client update for Steam has caused an unforeseen issue with certain mods and trainers. This is not intentional behavior. We’re investigating the bug and will be preparing a fix. ''

i just tried the new GRID 2 trainer and without the compatabilty tool the game crashed as soon as i hit F1..
Yep, this was totally a bug. I can see, Caliber, why you reacted so quickly to make sure the trainers work for people. That said I am really glad Gibbed came and calmed things down, this was getting bad. I regret making snap judgments earlier.
Everyone just restart your comp, Steam will update, ta-da they work again
yes it appears gibbed was possibly vindicated.. however, it is bizarre that this happened to begin with.. also I don't like that steam is hooking system files.. our trainers don't do it.
also, if people don't know it, dozens of our members raised hell in the steam forums and someone name phil from valve finally said that there was an 'unintended error' in that update that caused problems for mods and trainers..
I am not letting them off the hook completely, but based on gibbeds perspective it possible that valve had made the bug honestly..
pwiz will post more later..
