From reading the Steam forums it's apparently awful though

Played it last evening, it is indeed a messed up game imo. Graphics suck, its supposed to be a sandbox open world game but instead it is linear missions with almost no freedom what so ever. The loading screen also for some reason makes my CPU jump to 100% and stays there a few seconds, resulting in a pc freeze. So my advice wait for GTA 5 in september.
