    Hi:

I've been using promo trainers on and off from this site with great success, and today, I decided to support you guys by buying an unlimited membership.

Now, none of the trainers will work. All are stuck on "Authenticaing" leading to a crash. I have read all the FAQs and troubleshooting docs.

I don't have VPN software installed.
    I don't use VPN.
    I have windows 7 64 bit.
Off line keys do not work unless I completely disable my connectivity (no acceptable).

Can you lend me a hand? Are there any log files generated or something? Because I think I just spent 90 dollars for a broken product...

Disable/uninstall all AV, firewall and other security software. right click run as admin on trainer. Something on your PC is blocking or interfering with the trainer's security system.

We have over 1.7 MILLION members and have been in business for going on 12 years. I can assure you that we do not sell "broken" products.

Anything more specific? I don't have this blocked in my windows f/w. The only AV I run is Microsoft Essentials.

What port does your program use?

Yes, I'm sure you don't in the vast majority of cases, but not in my case.

If you look at it from my perspective, I'm sure you can see my frustration.

Our software uses a basic port 80 http call to authenticate. You can try completely uninstalling and/or disabling Windows Firewall/ MS Security Essentials, etc. Also, plug PC directly into internet, bypassing all network routers and firewalls. You can also try a Windows Clean Boot. Once you determine what is causing the block then you can turn things back on which are not interfering.

    Great. Thank you.

How long should the authentication process take, under normal circumstances? Are we talking about less than a second, a few seconds, a minute?

under normal circumstances the process should take between 0.5-2 seconds, if you're downloading something at the same time or have programs runing which use bandwidth it should take a little bit longer.

    Cheers.

After about half an hour of sorting out my msconfig, I found the culprit.

It's a program called Connectify, which allows you to create a wifi hotspot.

It doesn't appear to route any traffic or interfere with other programs, and I sure as hell don't have it running as an admin, so why it should block your authentication is beyond me.

Anyway, mystery solved. You can add this to your support check list for future customers.
