First of all, I think that this is pretty exciting news. Taking an animated video game and creating an animated movie is the best plan of action to take, in my opinion. But I know of so many movies based on books, video games based on movies, and other media crossovers that have failed. I really hope they do this movie justice.
What do you guys think about movies derived from video games? Do you think this one will be successful? Can you name any movies derived from video games that you think were a great success or a great failure?

From what I've seen, anything that's animated has been successful in the last couple of years. It's the live action movies that get most of the bad scores or they never even come to life, such as World of Warcraft and Halo movies. We've yet to see if the Mass Effect, Need for Speed and Assassin's Creed movies come through, though I'm not keeping my hopes up.

Next I want Sly Cooper, and Jak and Daxter
And it might sound funny, but I would buy a O-Z just to get you in my bedroom.

They are completely different media with different standards of storytelling.
If you make a movie and try to make it like the game, it will suck. Period.
This is how our impressions of video game movies are formed.
For instance...
Super Mario Brothers.
GREAT MOVIE. I don't give a **** what kids these days say. The game cannot be made into a movie, so they didn't. They just took elements and ran with them.
Resident Evil.
Decent movie. They didn't make Resident Evil the Game the Movie. They took elements and ran.
Mortal Combat.
One of the worst movies ever made. Lets simulate the game experience in a movie... lol. Just doesn't work.
Edit- I forgot to say that if you expect what a movie can't be, you'll be disappointed.

In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, 'Make us your slaves, but feed us.'

As this being the funniest game I've ever played, I can only say I couldn't be happier.

I see this from a very simplified view. I really don't like it.
Your game is awewome and has mass appeal to millions of people around the world, including my missus who is 21. Don't wh**e out your characters in a movie, just don't. You made enough money with the games. The interaction is the biggest factor, couldn't care less to watch it as a movie.

Need for Speed movie should be alright because it has Jesse Pinkman as the main character and should just focus on sweet car races. That's all I expect from it. Should be pretty good
I should probably get around to play R&C 2 and 3. Got them at home, never bothered to play them
Edit: And if it counts as a video game film, Wreck it Ralph was fantastic.
