They've updated the trainer and it works like a charm now

I have successfully had the save game editor work for my steam version of the game. Just follow the same instructions and it should work just fine.

I don't know with what version editor stopped working but with new update - editor crashed to desktop after i tried load savegame

And more - hex codes also didn't work for me - i can't find any editable values

They started compressing the save games after this last patch. As well as introducing some more bugs while fixing others.
