I open the trainer then start the game it runs fine but when I activate it the game crashes and comes up with game not responding does anyone else have that problem

If you are trying to use it with the Steam download version, it will not work. The trainer is almost 3 years old and was only writtent to work with the commercial version. I dought they will create a new or update for the Steam download.

WRONG! The game does not crash with the 1. METRO 2033 MEGA TRAINER (PATCH #2) on steam.

I have the STEAM version when I played the game for the first time the trainer worked fine. Now going back to play it, it crashes everytime.

What crashes the trainer? the game? which os you are using?

I just grabbed the last trainer and tried playing (cause I wanted a quick run through before playing the sequel).

My game goes for a while, with the trainer active but no cheats on yet, and then just seems to hang.

Playing without the trainer it seems fine.
There doesn't seem to be any specific thing I can see that's making the game crash. It happens mid combat, or just while walking around, or in the middle of a cutscene.
