Like I said before, Tomb Raider has always been a linear title, even the first game WAS linear.

Exactly. Wouldn't it be better if you could play in 1st or 3rd person like Skyrim and free roam anywhere around the island gathering up supplies, crafting weapons, using the cover of nightfall and the dense forest, swamps, etc to stealthfully pick off enemies, set up traps, hunt for food and water that you actually need to eat and drink to survive, change outfits... More sexy stuff is always welcome in my book. I don't play Tomb Raider games because I believe in the whole gender equality nonsense, I play because I want to see a half-naked chick running around. Imagine free roaming in your camo lingerie, covered in mud, and taking those big bad meanie menfolk down after discovering your inner va-jay-jay goddess superpowers. Sexy.

That's why I like the new Tomb Raider. Lara isn't being used as a sex symbol. She isn't being paraded around in skimpy outfits.

She has been reworked to be a realistic character. I like what the developers did to her character. I like that they are giving her character development.

They only did that because all the butthurt feminists complained that Lara was sexier than themselves. Now they've ruined her to appease those feminazi's who hate men and male sexuality.

This game series won't last under this version of Lara if the gameplay stays the same. The sex appeal of Lara was what put Tomb Raider on the map. Now that they've destroyed that icon with this non-Lara imposter, future sales will be low if the linear gameplay stays the same. Sales might be high for this title because people bought into the hype that this was a survival based game. But it really isn't. There is no survival gaming here at all. It's just a story. You kill one animal at the beginning of the game and that's all you have to do to progress the story. After that, you don't have to kill anymore animals to survive. You don't have to find clean water to drink. Or bandages for your wounds.

It's just a story driven game that requires you to press some buttons from time to time to progress down very linear corridors.

Yeah, I read that. But if they can change the image of Lara then they can certainly change the gameplay as well. In 2013, I expect more from game developers than the same old linear garbage they've been putting out for the past decade. You can put lipstick on a pig - it's still a pig.

And now they're even pushing gender politics into gaming which is dumb as all can be when over 95% of your industry depends on sales from male gamers. I see enough insecure feminists whining about being women in the news, I don't want to see it in gaming as well.

I am pretty sure they did it to give Lara depth and character development instead of making her just a one dimensional sex symbol character.

I get it, you don't like the new Lara. That is fine but there are plenty of people like me that do like the new Lara Croft and that she actually has depth and character development.

I don't really care if the game is linear. I like the exploring aspects and finding the relics, documents, and GPS caches. The Uncharted series is pretty linear and that series has sold like hotcakes. What exactly is wrong with a story driven game? If the story is good I don't care how linear it is. I will still play it and enjoy it.

It could be because he has different preferences on what he likes and dislikes like every human does. For the record, I like Tomb Raider more than Far Cry 3 too. Sure, Far Cry 3 was fun but it severely lacked in the storytelling department.

95%? I am fairly sure that women make up a far larger percentage of gamers than 5%. Not every male that plays video games wants the female characters in those games to be sex symbols.

I am a male and I am sick of seeing female characters get used as sex symbols just to appeal to the male demographic. Alyx Vance from Half-Life 2 was a big step in the right direction for female characters and now Lara Croft has also gone in the right direction as well. Every character both male and female needs to have depth and character development.

What I wanna say about this topic is, You're view on the game is that it should have been more free roam? Well me I'm a HUGE fan of free roam but it depends on the game, Far cry 3 was awesome I hated the first person view. And I had an extremely hard time aiming with my controller but if you haven't noticed it then Tomb Raider Survival is a bit free roam if you go to a camp you can fast travel and walk around and hunt a bit of animal. It's
but the story doesn't call for much free roam.

I might have a few typos or so, but I'm sure most here will know what I said
